It Really Is a (Wednesday) Hodgepodge!
1. Share one fun thing you did last week, while the Hodgepodge was on 'spring break'.
~ Saturday afternoon my brother, brother in law, sister and nieces went to see Identity Thief, then had our family dinner at Longhorn. I have decided that I am going to treat myself to a movie every weekend.
2. April 10th is National Sibling Day...do you have siblings, and if so are you close? Share a favorite story featuring one or all of your siblings. If you don't have siblings, did you ever wish you did?
~ I have two. I wouldn't trade them for the world. We just lost our mom a week and a half ago, and our dad 2 years ago. Its just the 3 of us. They have daughters that I live for, we are in this all together.
3. Is it important to you to 'buy American'? Why or why not? How much of an effort do you make to 'buy American'? If you're not American, insert your own country in the blank.
~ I hate to admit, I'm a Walmart shopper. Even my car is from some far away country. I would love to be a "buy American" shopper, but 1. try and find stuff and 2. try and afford them.
4. Besides The Bible, what book has impacted your spirituality in some way?
~ All Max Lucado books, and when I was younger, I did a Charles Swindoll bible study every morning.
5. April showers bring May flowers or so the saying goes. Do you find rainy days calming or depressing? When were you last caught in a rainstorm? What's blooming in your neck of the woods today?
~ I think they are so calming... my little Grace, unfortunately does not feel the same way. This morning we had an awful storm and I just wanted to go home so I could comfort her. <3 a="" back="" blooming="" daffodils="" have="" i="" in="" multitude="" my="" of="" pretty.="" very="" yard.="">3>
6. What's your favorite yellow food?
~ Fresh corn on the cob, cooked on the grill, dripping with butter, and seasoned with a pinch of seasoned salt.
7. April is National Poetry Month...what's a poem that holds special meaning for you, and why is it special?
~ I've always liked The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. I like the imagery of facing a fork in life's path and having to choose and the choice making a difference in how life turns out.
8. Insert your own random thoughts here:
~ I have so many random thoughts. I am feeling kind of sad today. One of those 'memorial days'. I made a baloney sandwich and a banana and I bought a milk. I forgot to take my bag out of my bag... brown paper in my school.bag. So when I sat down to eat it it was a little warm, but delish none the less. My lunches were always packed in a brown paper bag because I hated those girly faggy lunchboxes, and anyway, I could carry it in my uniform thingie and it was safe from being lost or forgotten. But today the baloney smelled like 'home' and the milk was just perfect and at that moment, I missed my mom. Terribly. It'll be 2 weeks on Sunday. I didn't say it much, but I love you mom. xo
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference
