It's a Marshmallow World in the Land of Hodgepodge
1. So, when did you last take a walk in the woods? A stroll along the beach? A drive going nowhere in particular in the car?
~ Let's see. I took a 3 mile walk in the woods (the hike-bike trail) last weekend and Monday I headed to the North Side, and when I was through with my appointment, I drove all over looking at the old homes and the big huge mansions over there. So beautiful. Its an old neighborhood now, and many of the mansions are apartments and section 8 common homes, but still , so many are in tact and beautiful.
2. Are you
sending Christmas cards this year? About how many do you send? Photo
card or something more traditional? How do you display the cards you
receive?
~ I'm not sure. We'll see how the biscuit sales go next week. Money is tight!
3. What's a word you've heard too much of in the past week?
~ No. smh
4. December 13th is National Cocoa Day-are you a fan? Plain or flavored? Marshmallows or no marshmallows?
~ Usually plain with marshmallows, but I will make one exception....Hot Chocolate Eggnog. It is to die for!
Ingredients
- 1 qt eggnog
- 2 cups milk
- 12 cup chocolate syrup
- 1 cup bourbon
- 14 tsp ground nutmeg
- miniature marshmallows
- Heat first 3 ingredients in a large saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and stir in bourbon. Stir in nutmeg. Pour mixture evenly into 8 mugs. Top with marshmallows, and serve immediately.
- *1 cup milk and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract may be substituted for bourbon.
5. What is something you do to help alleviate the hectic pace of the Christmas season?
~ walk in the park.
6. Besides jewelry, what's a favorite sparkly-glittery item in your home or closet?
~ a heart on a key chain. it was a gift at one time. I have since taken it off, but its in my bed side drawer.
7. Share a favorite line or two from any Christmas carol.
~
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
~ I read the words to O' Holy Night, and there is a sense of peace that comes over my soul. when the words "fall on your knees" are sung, the tears fall because praising the Lord is not something you 'do', its something that comes from your soul. It truly reminds me of how blessed I am by His birth and His death and how my salvation is truly the only thing that matters.
