Saturday Nine

Hello, Dolly!
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Hello, Dolly (1964)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is about a woman returning to the town where she was happiest. How many towns have you lived in?
5

2) Crazy Sam played Ernestina in her high school production of Hello, Dolly! and still remembers one of her lines: "Hey, you with the big ears! What are you doing after the show?" Tell us something that you memorized for school that is still rattling around in your brain.
Absolutely NOTHING

3) This week's featured artist, Louis Armstrong, got his start entertaining diners on riverboat dinner cruises. Have you ever taken a dinner cruise?
No...sadly.

4) Armstrong took his nickname, "Satchmo," from "Satchel Mouth" -- a slang term for someone with a wide mouth, which Louis believed was his most distinguishing feature. What do you think people notice first about you?
My crazy curls.

5) In 1936, Louis became the first African American to get featured billing in a Hollywood movie. Have you seen any of this summer's big movies?
Hahahah. Between remodeling the house, and moving and TRYING to save during this HUGE spending period, we have been very frugal. After everything is settled we will be back to dating again.
  6) When "Hello, Dolly" composer Jerry was growing up, he was close to an aunt named Belle who encouraged his love of music. Tell us about one of your aunts or uncles.
My aunt Ann is the aunt I am closest to. She is an amazing strong woman. She is 88 and suffered from a  heart attack. They told her without open heart surgery she would pass in a couple of months. Her husband, my uncle Casey, is 90 and suffers from memory loss and is so frail that he needs help getting around. She took the odds of living thorough open heart surgery because No One will care for my husband like I can. Imagine. She is up and around, did give in and they moved into a beautiufl assisted living place outside of the ATL and doing amazing. God bless her precious soul.

7) Though famous for composing the scores of Hello, Dolly!, Mame and La Cage Aux Folles, Jerry Herman can't read music. Can you?
Yes, maybe not as well as I used to, but I could pass a music test fo shizzle.

8) Now retired, Mr. Herman lives in Miami. This is Miami's "wet season," which lasts into October. When did it last rain where you are?
Yesterday morning. Beautiful.

9) Random question: Have you suffered a sunburn this summer?
Not really. I have been too busy to be out much. My friend Ginny and I want to make a Firestone Park run before the summer is over. And since my weight loss success, although i am not happy with where I am , but happier than where I WAS, I may take her up on it. Hey, Firestone is full of hillbillies, so I am pretty sure the fat chick will fit in with the toothless ones!!

    1. Truly. I love her so much. If it weren't for my 1st husband and I remarrying, I probably would have moved down to ATL and stayed with my cousin ( her daughter ) until her and my uncle passed. I hate being so far from them. xoox

  2. Your aunt does sound amazing! I think surgery at any age is tough, but it is very hard on the elderly. Hat's off!
